Tim Colley AIA, LEED AP, SCUP, has more than twenty years of experience working with individuals, small and large businesses, local and state governments, and universities on projects of all types, scales, and complexity. tim graduated from virginia tech with undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture with a concentration in sustainable and energy efficient design. tim served on the american institute of architects (aia) blue ridge board of directors in various capacities from 2001-2013. additionally, tim served on the aia virginia board of directors and aia virginia pac board of trustees almost continuously from 2011-2017. locally, tim has served on boards for sustainable blacksburg and the ymca at virginia tech, and he currently serves on the town of blacksburg zoning ordinance review committee and planning commission. tim is registered to practice architecture in virginia, west virginia, and north carolina.
Barry Collier, AIA, LEED AP, brings over thirteen years of architectural experience to the team. barry received his degree in architecture from virginia tech while juggling deployments to the middle east as a member of the virginia army national guard. his expertise in higher education projects as both an architect and project manager covers such areas as campus eateries and cafés, libraries, athletic spaces, residence halls, offices, reception and lobby spaces, and numerous high-tech learning atmospheres. barry is a licensed architect in the state of virginia.
Matthew Lawhead, AIA, brings over fifteen years of architectural experience, which includes an extensive background in k-12 and higher education, municipal projects, theaters, sports facilities, and large-scale institutional and retail projects. originally from southern california, matt received his degree at california polytechnic state university and relocated with his family to the new river valley in 2016. matt is a licensed architect in california.
Jeramie Clifford, Associate AIA, is a graduate of the virginia tech master of architecture program with a broad range of design expertise. in addition to his experience in design renovation for residential, low income multi-family housing and higher education projects, jeramie has a hands-on perspective having worked in construction, heavy timber frame construction, and carpentry, affording him a more intimate viewpoint and understanding of the fundamentals of a project. jeramie is earthcraft virginia certified, an associate aia member, and is working towards professional licensure.
Colley Architects also employs design interns throughout the year to assist with production while providing valuable professional experience to students. This also allows our firm to maintain a direct connection to current architectural education practices.
