The center of the Town of Saltville, Virginia previously consisted of a large underutilized parking lot. Colley Architects was contracted to design a new outdoor entertainment facility for local and traveling musical productions. A “village green” or commons area was also introduced as a gathering place around the stage creating a new town square. The new green space receives a lot of foot traffic, especially from the nearby high school students. The commons also serves as a starting point for the new rails to trails trail system in Smyth County. We also worked with the Town of Saltville on a Community Development Block Grant funded Facade Renovation Program for their core downtown buildings. Twenty-five buildings were completed as part of the work.
