Virginia Tech Football Player’s Lounge
In the competitive world of college football, creating spaces for players to unwind is important both for current players and for attracting new recruits. Following a hard day of training, players can head to the fully renovated lounge to watch the games on the two video walls, kick up their feet with some popcorn in the theater, play a game of Madden on the 30’ gaming wall, or test their skills in another sport on the arcade style basketball game. With cozy lounge style seating, warm finishes, and adjustable lighting, the Football Player’s Lounge creates an inviting and relaxing environment where players can escape.
By taking advantage of an adjacent underutilized space for the theater, the neighboring recruiting staff offices were able to be expanded as part of the overall renovation. The existing open office was converted to five private offices and a conference room space for watching and discussing player films. The recruiting staff welcomes new recruits to the lounge by having them pass through “the tunnel” designed to simulate the gameday entrance experience, complete with music, video, and a light show.
